The Jeff Sipe Trio

The Jeff Sipe trio has been together since the Summer of 2007 touring and performing primarily in the
Southeast. As the drummer and leader of the group, Sipe has the opportunity to play tunes that feature strong melodies and interesting rhythms to showcase the group’s extremely talented musicians.Guitarist Mike Seal is currently in his final semester of study at UT’s Music school in Knoxville, TN. He breaks away from school with the group for short tours.
On the bass is Vince Ilagan who is also from Knoxville and is a UT Alumni. He plays both acoustic and electric bass with the trio. Influenced by of a wide spectrum of genres, the group enjoys performing in a variety of styles and grooves.
The collective influences of the band members include: the electric Jazz-Funk of Miles Davis and thus Weather Report, John Scofield, Bill Frisell, Keith Jarrett Trio, etc.
Another of the several facets of this group includes the influences of James Brown, Sly and the Family Stone, Maceo Parker, Stevie Wonder, and P-Funk.
With a love for melody, the group is continually rediscovering the beauty of many older standards.
