Eliza Rosbach
at Blackbird Restaurant
8:00 pm
Inspired by folks, friends, and friendly folks Eliza Rosbach has been writing songs since childhood. Since moving to Asheville six years ago
she can hardly put down her guitar and homemade banjo. Her music is quirky, sweet, thoughtful, and playful. Her songs come straight from the heart, and have been known to go straight to the tear ducts. Eliza has even been given the title of "best singer in the world" by her eight year old niece, Zoe. She is doing her best to live up to it."Bloodroot Red is an acoustic collection with pin-drop clarity, excellent musicianship and some stellar songwriting. Rosbach dances on the fences between Appalachian folk and quirk pop. . . her singing voice is distinctively Southern and thick with inflection. Unusual, but effective, much like this haunting and highly unique collection that reveals its intricate layers with further listening." -Alli Marshall, from the Mountain Xpress
"Rosbach's Appalachian-folk music was delivered with eloquence and clarity. . . her emotionally rich repertoire tugged on the heartstrings. . Many of her songs are laced with imagery that strives to find beauty in the mundane. Her sultry edge is reminiscent of Cat Power (more specifically "Sea of Love" and "The Greatest" and her acoustic grace similar to Joni Mitchell ("night Ride Home" and "Both Sides Now").
