Sun 11/22 Blk Mtn Youth Chorale Concert at BMCA

The Black Mountain Youth Chorale
will present its third annual
Fall Concert
Sunday, November 22
3 pm
at the
Black Mountain Center for the Arts

Black Mountain Youth Chorale is under the direction of Aline Carillon with accompanist Penny Rose. Carillon, has chosen a program to showcase the Magic of Music, along with the Magic of Animals, and the Magic of the Season. The concert, a mix of classical and contemporary choral works will include a text by Edgar Allen Poe, and works by Howard, Emerson, Mulholland, Carter, Webdell, Schram, Beery, Gilpin, and a Korean Folk Song, arranged by Snyder.

The variety of music ranges from the beautiful to the fun. These young, pure voices blend in a sound that is truly magical.

The Chorale is for students in grades 4-8 to learn choral music from many traditions. The Chorale extends beyond school districts and church denominations (the typical outlets for youth singers) to include students in public, charter, private, and home schools. It provides an opportunity for youth to learn more about unison and 2- and 3- part singing, as well as making friends who like to sing.

The Black Mountain Youth Chorale holds rehearsals on a weekly basis in the fall, winter, and spring, and presents two annual concerts for the public. In addition, they participate in annual choral workshops and performances with other youth choirs, and at times, by invitation from local churches and organizations.

Members of the Chorale are Gabriella Curtis, Audrey Cruzan, Journey Dreyer, Samantha Reese, Micaela Williams, Sophie Roth, Anna Kate Hall, Audrey Pierce, Savannah Garrett, and Claire Roth. New members are encouraged to join for the next semester.

The Center is located in the original City Hall at 225 W. State Street. More information is available at 828/669-0930.

Admission is by donation at the door, with a suggested donation of $5 per person, or $15 per family.
