at Beacon Pub

W. Michael Freer is an acoustic bluesman accompanying himself on his Larrivee acoustic or 'blues uke' and using rich baritone vocals and mellow harp style to create a intimate personal performance to connect with audiences across the country. His songs ring true with listeners who find a kinship with their own "blues".

Having served as a local government professional for almost 30 years, Mike's skills as a bluesman were a well kept secret. In 2007 he changed that. He walked away from working for the government and recorded his debut cd, 'Wilbur's Blues', and hit the road touring the midwest with his harmonicas and 'blues uke' sharing his unique style of acoustic blues. The blues he shares with us in his debut CD, "Wilbur's Blues", tells us of his 50+ years. We share his joy and sorrow, success and failures, the women who left and the woman who stayed. He sings to us personally about his past, his pride in his children, his hopes and his fears. In many ways "Wilbur's Blues" is 'our' blues.
