The 1st Annual Rastafarian Ancient Living Arts and Kulture Festival (RALAK Fest), is an all day educational, interfaith, music and cultural event that will feature speakers from a vast majority of religious sects, local civic leaders, representatives within our community and national educators. The Black Mountain ARC initiated the 1st Annual Rastafarian Ancient Living Arts & Kulture Festival, to address the misrepresentation of the Rastafari Faith and to expand and establish relations amongst other faiths.
"The Rastafari way of life is being misrepresented as an alternative lifestyle, fashion, gang or any other societal labels placed on it due to ignorance. The Black Mountain ARC will illustrate the Rastafari Way of Life at RALAK through righteous action and behavior that is accessible to people of all faiths and walk of life."

Ras Michael

Ras Michael was born George Michael Henry in Kingston, Jamaica. The legendary musician is known throughout the world as a reggae vocalist and Nyabinghi "burra" drum specialist whose style is roots, rock reggae. "Nyabinghi" means righteous vibrations stretching all the way back to the Motherland. Ras Michael is a true patriarch of reggae, among the purest of its sources, a constant conscience and keeper of the culture. In the early 60's, Ras Michael formed the Sons of Negus, a rastafarian group of drummers and singers and founded his Zion Disc label, which continues to release most of his inventive and subtle albums to this day. Ras Michael & the Sons of Negus grew up in the tradition burra drumming, one of the few surviving remnants of their African heritage. This churchical order dates back to the times of the priests & elders in Lalibela Ethiopia, who played their drums chanting and praising Jah, and scolding the wicked, in ancient churches hewn out of rock.

Reggae Infinity is a band that is based in columbia, south carolina. four premium members play all styles of reggae musik [Ras B, Lauren, Jahson & Caution] but always with conscious, positive content. Band member are from Nevis, St. Croix, St. Kitts & US. These talented singers & players, have come together to do jah[god] works through word sound & the power of reggae musik. each individual member wants to share & give spiritual uplifting through musik & word.

Dr. John P. Homiak Curator for Discovering Rastafari! at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History . Along with a panel of 17 Rastafarian advisers, Homiak created the exhibit to dispel the stereotype that Rastaf...arian culture is merely about marijuana and reggae music.
