8pm

Asheville folk rockers, Every Mother’s Dream release their new recording, Submarine at White Horse Black Mountain. Every Mothers Dream is rooted in the music of Jay and Mandy Carter of Black Mountain North Carolina. Amiee Sullivan will be joining them on sax and Rhodes piano, and Trevor Stoia will be bringing the noise with his upright bass for this special event.
Atlanta pop duo, The Brilliant Inventions (featuring Josh Lamkin and Eliot Bronson) will open the show.

Every Mother's Dream is a flexible ensemble shifting lineups and genres to create an ever-changing (and ever pleasing) blend of fresh music which defies pigeon-holing. Submarine, their second recording as a full band, showcases the band's heavier folk rock side along with its pop sensibility.

Since forming in 2005, Asheville's Every Mother's Dream has gained respect in the regional music community with their own fresh brand of roots music inspired by a blend of folk, funk, rock & roll, country, pop, and jazz musicians – a little something for everyone. The band's front duo, Jay Kaiser and Mandy Carter, bring intelligent and inspiring songwriting to a mix of impeccable acoustic guitar work, sweet vocal harmonies, and a tasty rhythm section.

Opening for EMD will be The Brilliant Inventions featuring Eliot Bronson and Josh Lamkin. Asheville and Black Mountain area music fans will remember Josh Lamkin as a central figure in the Asheville singer-songwriter scene for before he relocated to Atlanta where he teamed up with Bronson for the successful duo Brilliant Inventions.

About the new recording from Every Mothers Dream:
Every Mother’s Dream’s new release, Submarine, goes deep. While maintaining the folk rock band’s typical pattern of harmony-based, genre-mixing tunes, it dives into a heavier “pop rock with a cause” sound reminiscent of 1970’s singer songwriters. EMD’s vocal harmonies beg the listener to sing along, and the messages shared in their lyrics are easy to access and to connect to our lives. Songwriters Jay Kaiser and Mandy Carter address some pressing issues of the day without being overtly activist or preachy.

“Jay and I really tried to write specifically for this record. Once we had a couple of tunes to get started, we committed to making Submarine a more cohesive project than our last release which ended up bouncing around everywhere – so much that we had to title it, “Big Blend”. There has been so much interesting transition in the world in the last couple of years – both unsettling and hopeful – that we were flooded with reasons to write songs.

More about the band:
Jay Kaiser and Mandy Carter have been making music as a pair since 2001. Jay, who was trained in classical guitar at the University of Illinois, moved to Asheville to join a local rock band where Mandy was fresh on the singer/songwriter scene. Noticing the matching stickers on one another's guitar cases, the two found musical common ground. Jay and Mandy formed a duo and begin performing their own brand of alternative folk music around the region, blending Jay's fave's,60's rock and 50's jazz and Mandy's influence from more contemporary female folksters. In 2005, the band became EMD and grew to include Jeff Dewhirst/drums, Joe Bruno/bass, and as an occasional treat, Aimee Sullivan/sax.
